Saurauia ursina

Saurauia ursina is a shrub or small tree native to Colombia, growing in the Andes between about 2,300 and 8,900 feet. It can reach about thirty feet tall. Dense brown or reddish hairs cover the branches and young leaves. Fragrant flowers have five white petals surrounding numerous yellow stamens. Rounded berries turn violet when ripe.
