Sarracenia leucophylla

Sarracenia leucophylla is a carnivorous perennial native to the Gulf Coast of the southeastern United States. Tall hollow leaves form upright pitchers whose white upper sections are patterned with red or green veins. A broad hood arches over each opening. Trapped insects break down in liquid near the pitcher base, supplying nutrients in the species’ naturally acidic, nutrient-poor bog habitat. Photographed in Florida.
