Santolina chamaecyparissus
Santolina chamaecyparissus is an aromatic evergreen subshrub native to Italy and the northwestern Balkan Peninsula. Finely divided silver-gray leaves densely cover the branching stems, and rounded yellow flower heads rise above the foliage on slender stalks. Each button-like head contains many small disk florets and lacks showy ray florets. Research-grade observations document the species in Peru. Photographed in Colombia.
