Sanchezia putumayensis

A tropical shrub native to northwestern South America, Sanchezia putumayensis grows in humid lowland and foothill forests. Long red tubular flowers emerge from overlapping dark bracts and end in a narrow, pale opening with projecting reproductive parts. The opposite leaves are broad and prominently veined.
