Salvia tubiflora


A perennial sage native to the Andes of Peru, Salvia tubiflora grows on mountain slopes and in open vegetation. Its elongated red tubular flowers extend from green calyces and end in narrow two-lipped openings, with the style projecting beyond the corolla. Opposite leaves and fine hairs occur along the upright stems. Photographed in Colombia.
