Salvia involucrata
This plant is a branching perennial shrub native to Mexico and Guatemala. Large ovate leaves occur in opposite pairs, and vivid pink tubular flowers emerge from conspicuous overlapping bracts near the ends of the stems. The bracts form a rounded bud-like structure and fall as flowers open. The two-lipped corollas have densely hairy tips. Photographed in Colombia.
