Salvia dombeyi
This plant is a tall scrambling Andean shrub native to Peru and Bolivia. Its slender stems bear broad aromatic leaves with heart-shaped bases in opposite pairs. Long pendant scarlet flowers emerge from brownish-purple calyces on fine stalks. The upper corolla lip is longer than the lower lip, and the slender style projects beyond the flower. Records place it at about 8,900 to 12,100 feet. Photographed in Colombia.
