Sagittaria longiloba white three petaled flower with a yellow center above narrow arrow shaped leaves

Sagittaria longiloba

Sagittaria longiloba is an aquatic perennial native to the southwestern United States, Mexico, and Central America. Narrow arrow-shaped leaves emerge from shallow water or mud, and upright stems carry white flowers with three rounded petals and yellow centers. Underground rhizomes and tubers anchor the plant. It grows in marshes, irrigation channels, ponds, and temporary wetlands where the soil remains flooded or saturated during active growth. Photographed in Florida.
