Ruellia metziae

Ruellia metziae is a perennial herb native to southeastern North America and the Caribbean region. Opposite leaves occur on low branching stems, while pale lavender funnel-shaped flowers open with five broad lobes. The flowers are short-lived but may be produced repeatedly during warm weather. The species grows in sandy pinelands, open woodland, and disturbed soil where periodic moisture alternates with dry conditions. Research-grade observations document it in Panama.
