Ruellia makoyana

Ruellia makoyana is a low perennial herb native to Brazil. Soft oval leaves are patterned with pale veins above and purple tones below. Pinkish-purple trumpet flowers rise above the foliage and have five rounded lobes with darker lines leading into the throat. Its creeping stems root at nodes and gradually form a low mat, while the strongly veined leaves provide year-round ornamental interest. Photographed in Florida.
