Rudbeckia hirta
Rudbeckia hirta is an annual, biennial, or short-lived perennial native to North America. Hairy stems and leaves support bright yellow flower heads with broad ray florets surrounding dark conical disks. The flowers provide pollen and nectar, and the dry seed heads persist after flowering. The species thrives in sunny prairies, roadsides, fields, and other disturbed ground with freely draining soil. Photographed in Florida.
