Rubus glaucus (Andean Blackberry)
Rubus glaucus is a perennial climbing shrub native from central Mexico to western Bolivia, including the northern and central Andes. It can grow up to approximately 10 feet in height, with round, prickly stems. The fruit starts green and turns dark purple when ripe, with a bittersweet taste. These fruits are used in various culinary ways, from juices to pastries. It thrives in the tropical highlands. Photographed in the eastern Andes mountain range of Colombia.
