Rondeletia odorata
Rondeletia odorata is an evergreen shrub native to Cuba and Panama. Opposite leathery leaves frame rounded clusters of fragrant tubular flowers. Each blossom has a vivid red-orange tube and four spreading lobes surrounding a small yellow center. The compact flower heads develop at branch tips, and individual corollas retain their narrow tubes beneath the flat four-lobed faces. Photographed in Florida.
