Ribes hirtum

Ribes hirtum is an Andean shrub native to Colombia and Ecuador. It forms densely branched plants up to about 8 feet tall, with hairy buds. The usually three-lobed leaves have doubly toothed margins and hairy undersides. Hanging racemes develop from the leaf axils, bearing pink flowers that function as male or female. Rounded berries ripen red and contain numerous seeds. The species inhabits pƔramo vegetation. Photographed in Colombia.
