Ribes hirtum

Ribes hirtum is an Andean shrub native to Colombia and Ecuador. Its textured leaves are divided into toothed lobes and grow along woody stems. Hanging flower clusters combine reddish bracts with tubular blossoms and conspicuous projecting stamens. The species occurs in cool montane vegetation and reaches high-elevation habitats above 9,800 feet. Research-grade observations document it in Colombia and Ecuador. Photographed in Colombia.
