Rhaphiolepis umbellata (Indian Hawthorn)

Native to China Southeast, Japan, Korea, Nansei-shoto, and Taiwan, this is a shrub in the Rosaceae family. It is an evergreen shrub. This plant, which grows up to 5 feet tall and equally wide is adorned with glossy oval leaves and bears scented white flowers, occasionally tinged with pink​. It has received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. The plant has many cultivars or hybrids. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
