Pyracantha coccinea
Pyracantha coccinea is a thorny evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub native from southern Europe to western Asia. Clusters of small white flowers develop into dense groups of orange-red fruits that remain on the branches into cool weather. The leathery leaves have finely toothed margins. Research-grade observations document the species in Colombia and Ecuador, where it occurs outside its native range. Photographed in Colombia.
