A perennial herb in the Asteraceae family, it is native to eastern and southeastern Australia. It has upright, usually unbranched stems with a dense covering of white woolly hairs, especially near the base. Its narrow leaves are covered with pressed white to gray hairs. Each spherical compound head consists of many small flowerheads containing yellow tubular florets. In Victoria, the species usually grows on heavier soils subject to inundation and flowers mainly in spring and summer. Photographed in Florida.
