Puya mirabilis
Puya mirabilis is a terrestrial bromeliad native to Bolivia and northwestern Argentina. A compact rosette of narrow toothed leaves produces a slender upright flower stalk. Long pale green flowers hang from the stem and open into narrow petals around projecting stamens. Unlike many large puyas, this species remains relatively small and can flower within a few growing seasons under bright, freely draining conditions. Photographed in Florida.
