Psammisia ulbrichiana

A tropical American shrub of humid forests, Psammisia ulbrichiana may grow terrestrially or as an epiphyte on trees. Its dense pendant clusters bear thick red tubular flowers with small spreading tips, while the calyx and flower stalks are similarly vivid. Broad leathery leaves surround the compact hanging inflorescences. Photographed in Colombia.
