Prunus serrulata

A deciduous flowering tree native to East Asia, Prunus serrulata is widely cultivated for its conspicuous spring blossoms. The flowers appear singly or in small clusters on short stalks and range from pale to deep pink among cultivated forms. Finely toothed leaves expand around the flowering branches and later form a broad leafy crown. Photographed in Colombia.
