A fruit tree with several subspecies with an ancestry from P. cerasifera. These subspecies are known to interbreed, creating a spectrum of fruits with varying sweetness, tartness, and colors bwith some having received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. This red plum is call Ciruela Calentana in Colombia and is primarily grown in the department of Cundinamarca between 8,000 and 9,000 feet.
