Prestoea acuminata

A palm native to tropical America, it belongs to the Arecaceae family and occurs in wet forests. Its stems may be solitary or clustered, and the leaves are divided into regularly spaced, narrow leaflets. The leaf sheaths form a partial crownshaft that can be green, purple, or reddish brown. Branched inflorescences develop below the leaves and bear small white or pink flowers, sometimes with purple tips. The fruits are usually round and become purple-black at maturity.
