Posoqueria longiflora
A shrub or small tree native to tropical South America, it belongs to the Rubiaceae family and grows in wet tropical habitats. Its glossy leaves occur in opposite pairs, and the flowers are grouped near branch tips. Each flower has an exceptionally long, slender white tube ending in narrow, reflexed lobes. The round fruits retain the calyx at their tips and contain seeds surrounded by transparent mucilage. Photographed in Florida.
