Pongamia pinnata branching cluster of pale pink pea shaped flowers among glossy compound leaves

Pongamia pinnata

Pongamia pinnata is an evergreen or briefly deciduous tree native from tropical and subtropical Asia to the western Pacific. Compound leaves form a dense crown, and branching clusters carry pale pink to lavender pea-shaped flowers marked with darker centers. Flat woody pods develop after flowering. The species is widely planted in warm coastal areas. Research-grade observations document it in Panama. Photographed in Colombia.
