Pogonopus exsertus

Pogonopus exsertus is a tropical tree native from southern Mexico through Central America to western South America. Opposite leaves grow along slender branches, and showy flower clusters combine enlarged pink bracts with tubular purple flowers. The species occurs primarily in seasonally dry tropical vegetation. Research-grade observations document it in Colombia, Panama, and Peru. Photographed in Colombia.
