Three white Plumeria pudica flowers with pale yellow centers in shade

Plumeria pudica

Native from Panama to northern Venezuela, this evergreen shrub or small tree belongs to the Apocynaceae family. Its glossy, leathery leaves have a distinctive fiddle shape with two lobes near the middle. Clusters of white flowers with yellow throats can develop throughout the year in warm climates, with long flowering periods. The flowers are faintly scented. It is harmful if eaten, and injured stems release milky sap that can irritate the skin and eyes. Photographed in Barranquilla, Colombia.
