Pleurothallis alvaroi

A miniature epiphytic orchid native to Colombia, Pleurothallis alvaroi grows in humid Andean forest where it anchors to mossy trunks and branches. Slender stems carry a single leathery leaf, and a compact inflorescence emerges near its base. Numerous dark burgundy flowers and buds are arranged closely along the arching flowering stem.
