Native to southeastern Brazil and southern Brazil, this is a shrub in the Melastomataceae family. This large shrub has dark green hairy leaves and vivid purple flowers. Awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
