Pityopsis graminifolia

A perennial herb native to the southeastern United States, Pityopsis graminifolia grows in dry pinelands, sandhills, scrub, and open woodland. Narrow grasslike leaves and stems are covered with silvery hairs that reflect intense sunlight. Golden composite flower heads are produced on upright stalks and consist of broad ray florets surrounding a dense central disk. Photographed in Florida.
