Pitcairnia stevensonii elongated pale yellow flower with a dark red central stripe

Pitcairnia stevensonii

Pitcairnia stevensonii is an Ecuadorian terrestrial bromeliad of humid tropical habitats. Its basal leaves support an inflorescence with elongated pale yellow flowers marked by a dark reddish stripe. The narrow petals curve outward as the flower opens, exposing the reproductive structures. Research-grade observations document the species in Ecuador, where it forms part of the diverse Andean bromeliad flora. Photographed in Colombia.
