Physalis pubescens

An annual herb native across much of the Americas, Physalis pubescens grows in open and disturbed habitats from the United States through Central and South America. Its hairy stems bear yellow bell-shaped flowers with five dark throat markings and blue-tipped anthers. After flowering, the calyx enlarges into a ribbed papery husk surrounding an edible berry.
