Phyllanthus androgynus slender leafy branchlets with small oval leaves and rounded fruits

Phyllanthus androgynus

Phyllanthus androgynus is a scrambling shrub or small tree native to tropical and subtropical Asia. Slender branchlets carry many simple oval leaves in two ranks, giving them the appearance of compound foliage. Tiny flowers arise from the leaf axils, and small rounded fruits develop beneath the branchlets. Research-grade observations under its widely used synonym Breynia androgyna document it in Ecuador and Panama. Photographed in Colombia.
