Phylica pubescens

Phylica pubescens is an evergreen shrub native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. Its narrow leaves and flower heads are densely covered with fine silvery hairs that reduce water loss and create a soft luminous appearance. Small flowers are packed into rounded terminal clusters. The species grows in Mediterranean-type shrubland and is cultivated for its distinctive foliage and textured flower heads. Photographed in Florida.
