Phanera aureifolia vine with large rust-orange velvety leaves and clusters of pale yellowish flowers among green foliage
Phanera aureifolia

Native to northern Thailand, Phanera aureifolia is a rare climbing legume of the Fabaceae family, notable for its striking foliage and seasonal floral display. The plant bears large, heart-shaped leaves that are densely covered with golden to rust-orange hairs on the underside, giving them a vivid hue when viewed against the light. As the leaves mature, they gradually turn green while retaining the golden tone underneath. Its pale yellow to cream flowers bloom in clusters during the dry season. In the wild, Phanera aureifolia grows in mixed deciduous forests, where it climbs over shrubs and trees. Photographed in Florida.
