Phaleria octandra compact cluster of thick white flower buds opening above glossy leaves

Phaleria octandra

An evergreen rainforest shrub native from Indonesia through New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to northern Australia, Phaleria octandra grows in wet tropical forest and coastal vegetation. The flowers develop in compact clusters at the ends of branches. Their thick white lobes unfold from tightly packed buds, creating a layered inflorescence above broad glossy foliage. Photographed in Florida.
