Phalaenopsis pulchra

Phalaenopsis pulchra is an epiphytic orchid native to the Philippines. It grows in humid tropical forest, producing thick green leaves and persistent flower spikes that may bloom again. The waxy flowers have broad, intensely purple segments and a contrasting white-and-orange lip. Its compact growth and saturated flower color make the species important in orchid cultivation and hybrid breeding. Photographed in Florida.
