Native from Assam and southern China through mainland Southeast Asia to western Malesia, Phalaenopsis pulcherrima is a lithophytic or terrestrial orchid of wet tropical habitats with a pronounced seasonal dry period. Upright flower stems carry widely spaced blossoms with vivid magenta sepals and petals surrounding a darker three-lobed lip. Photographed in Florida.
