Persea americana (Avocado)
Native to Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, central Mexico, and Mexico Gulf and nearby regions, this is a tree in the Lauraceae family. The avocado is now cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide for its fruit. This broadleaf evergreen tree can reach a height of 30 plus feet and a spread of 20 plus feet​. The fruit is rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals​. Photographed in the central Andes mountain range of Colombia.
