Pentagonia macrophylla

Pentagonia macrophylla is a wet-tropical tree in the coffee family, native to Central America and northwestern South America. It is recognized by its very large leaves and by clusters of tubular flowers borne close to the stems. Pink-red buds open into pale cream flowers. Research-grade observations document the species in Ecuador and Panama. Photographed in Colombia.
