Penstemon hartwegii

A perennial herb native to central and southern Mexico, Penstemon hartwegii grows naturally in open mountain habitats and has also given rise to numerous ornamental garden selections. Its upright stems carry clusters of broad tubular flowers with a flared, two-lipped opening. Wild and cultivated forms range from red and magenta to pink, often with a contrasting pale throat.
