Salmon-pink Pelargonium flowers with broad rounded petals form a dense cluster above green leaves

Pelargonium (garden hybrids) (species unidentified)

Developed in cultivation, these tender perennial herbs and subshrubs of hybrid origin belong to the geranium family. They are grown for clusters of flowers in shades of red, salmon, pink, purple, and white, with single or double blooms depending on the cultivar. Many bedding forms grow about 1 to 3 feet tall. Remove spent flowers to encourage further blooming; stem cuttings can be used for propagation. Pelargoniums are toxic to dogs, cats, and horses. Photographed in Colombia.
