Pelargonium ionidiflorum

A compact subshrub native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa, Pelargonium ionidiflorum forms slender branching stems and grows primarily in subtropical grassland and rocky habitat. Its small vivid pink flowers are strongly asymmetrical: the two upper petals stand nearly upright and carry dark basal markings, while three narrower lower petals spread or curve downward around the projecting reproductive column. The leaves are finely divided into narrow segments. Photographed in Florida.
