The Indian Peafowl, is a bird that captivates many with its striking appearance and behaviors. Originating from India and Sri Lanka, the species has expanded its range to Pakistan, parts of Africa, and even Australia. Despite this spread, the wild population of the Peacock is estimated at around 100,000 individuals and is listed under the category of "Least Concern" by the IUCN. Physically, peafowl are known for their vibrant plumage, especially the males (peacocks) with their iconic long tail feathers that are often spread out in a fan-like display. This display is a part of their mating ritual, where the brightly colored and patterned feathers are used to attract females (peahens). The females, although lacking the flamboyant tail feathers of the males, have their own subtle beauty. The peacock's tail feathers, which can take up to three years to grow, are shed regularly. Peacocks are amicable and can adapt well to human presence, but they can become aggressive if they feel threatened. They require ample space due to their size and have personalities that can be described as destructive.
