Passiflora luzmarina

A climbing vine native only to Ecuador, it occurs in Andean habitats at elevations of about seven thousand nine hundred to eight thousand five hundred feet. Its leaves have three pointed lobes, and its slender flower stalks hang downward. Three bracts are joined at the base into a bell-shaped enclosure. The flowers are about one and a half inches across, with pink to light purple petals and sepals. Their cylindrical floral tube is white inside, and the corona is reduced to a purple ring with small white teeth.

The species produces elongated fruits. It is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
