Passiflora alata × caerulea flower with purple corona filaments against green leaves

Passiflora alata × caerulea

Passiflora alata × caerulea is a cultivated passionflower hybrid combining two vigorous climbing species. Like other passionflowers, it climbs by coiling tendrils and bears flowers with a prominent corona surrounding the central reproductive column. The hybrid retains winged climbing stems and deeply divided corona filaments, while its tendrils arise opposite the leaves. Photographed in Florida.
