Paphiopedilum Sander's Pride
Developed in cultivation from Paphiopedilum stonei and Paphiopedilum sanderianum, this perennial hybrid slipper orchid belongs to the multiflowered group. Several blossoms can share a single upright stem. Their striped upper sepals contrast with exceptionally long, hanging petals inherited from the parent species. An inflated pouch forms the flower’s lip. Mature plants grow in broad leaf fans and can develop into substantial clumps. Photographed in Florida.
