Pandanus tectorius 'Sanderi'
Pandanus tectorius is a tropical tree native from the Philippines through many Pacific islands. The cultivar ‘Sanderi’ is distinguished by longitudinal yellow striping in its long, spirally arranged foliage. The species often develops supporting prop roots and compound fruits made up of many joined sections. It is cultivated in Colombia from sea level to about 4,900 feet and has long been used in Pacific cultures for fiber, food, and other materials. Photographed in Colombia.
