Oxalis dillenii
Native from central and eastern Canada to eastern Mexico, this small perennial herb grows in open or disturbed habitats. Five yellow petals form each flower, held on fine stems above the foliage. The plant belongs to Oxalidaceae. Its leaves are divided into three heart-shaped leaflets, a familiar feature of many wood-sorrels. Photographed in Colombia.
