Opuntia cochenillifera (Cochineal Cactus)

Hailing from Mexico, this cactus has carved a space for itself across the Americas and Asia, growing in a shrubby or treelike manner. A distinctive feature is its pink to deep red flowers, blooming at the top of the uppermost joints. The fruit and stems are consumable. Photographed in the department of Atlantico, Colombia.
